Learning and Believing
Wael joined Karam House on April 2021. One of the studios he has completed is “Automated Manufacturing” where he created Wall Arm.
How was your experience returning to Karam House?
When it was only online studios, I did not have a strong desire for it. But when I came to Karam House and met the mentors, and made friends that I will never forget that changed my whole experience.
Describe to us what you were some of your goals to achieve during this year and what you’ve achieved.
I was hoping to achieve the goals based on the reality that I was drawing with my imagination, and thank God, I achieved what I was hoping for, I designed a park for children. It was a very successful project. I also designed a belt in the shape of the planet Saturn, which was also successful. I presented it in front of my friends and they loved it.
What are your plans for the new year?
The first thing I want to do is make new friends. The second thing is to build goals to achieve, one of which is receiving a scholarship to study.
What are the most important skills and experiences that you gained in Beit Karam during 2022?The experience I’ve gained at Karam House is self- resilience and I learned that the only thing that will be with you on your journey are your experiences, your education, and your certificates. And most importantly, this is the first time that I create models such as the park for children and the Saturn belt, and now I am working on building a robot which is a great achievement. For a long time, I was on my own. I had no friends and no people around me. I loved being by myself, but when I came to Karam House everything changed.
Tell us about a memory with a friend at Karam House
When we were making the Saturn belt, the belt was in a fragile state, it is made out of wood so we had to put it together carefully. After we finished the project, I pulled the belt a bit too strong and it came crashing and breaking. My friend who was working on it with me froze when he saw that and started hitting his head with his hands. Suddenly we both started laughing nonstop. This is a memory I will never forget.
