Karam Studios in the Camps

Innovation in the Face of Adversity: Empowering the Next Generation of Problem Solvers

Learning for a Generation in Recovery

In the heart of the Hilal Camps in Hatay, Turkiye, where nearly 20,000 displaced Syrians have sought refuge, Karam Studios offers a vital space for children impacted by war, displacement, and the devastating earthquakes of 2023. This sprawling camp houses over 4,100 families, many of whom lost their homes—and any sense of stability—overnight.
In the aftermath of the earthquakes, as families worked to rebuild their lives in an already precarious situation,

Karam Studios is a hub of learning and creativity designed specifically for this vulnerable community. Here we are equipping young minds with the skills to rebuild, reimagine, and lead.

Through storytelling, photography, design, and technology, children and teens develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a vision for what’s next. In a world that has taken so much from them, they are building something new.

Creativity as a Path Forward

Karam Studios in the camps is an environment shaped by uncertainty, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of opportunity. Here, young minds navigate the challenges of displacement by exploring creativity, technology, and self-expression as tools for progress.

In a setting where access to education is limited, Karam Studios provides a space for experimentation, discovery, and growth. Whether they are learning to code, capturing their experiences through photography, or designing solutions to the challenges they face, these young innovators are proving that talent and ambition transcend borders.

This is where the next generation of problem solvers, creators, and leaders takes shape—armed not just with hope, but with the skills to forge their own path forward.
