Stand with Lebanon
August 10, 2020Our hearts ache for the people of Lebanon. For the lives lost. The homes destroyed. The futures in question. Experiencing the aftermath of destruction is devastating. Hundreds of thousands of people were instantly displaced by Tuesday’s massive explosion. As we know well, after tragedy people seek solidarity and comfort from others. Today is our turn to stand alongside the people of Beirut as they pick up the pieces of their shattered city.
Action You Can Take for Lebanon
No matter where you live, you can support Lebanon. There are many organizations doing work on the ground in Beirut — distributing food, providing shelter, covering medical fees, and offering psychological counseling. They need your help.
Basmeh & Zeitooneh is an organization that has been meeting the needs of Syrian refugees living in Lebanon since 2012. They are now responding to the explosion in Beirut, and their communities are in great need of support. The devastating blasts have caused significant damage to the city and its people. The full impact of this disaster is yet to be known.
Our Head of Innovation, Ramzi Naja, is currently in Beirut.
He says of the explosion: “The city is devastated and individuals and nonprofits have taken initiative to help clear debris and provide shelter for those whose homes have been destroyed. The existing economic crisis and the pandemic make the situation even more excruciating, and the need for help is endless.“
Support his GoFundMe, which is directly allocating funds to smaller organizations responding to the urgent and life-saving needs of the communities.
